Handmade

Our finishing samples are to be considered indicative since our work is done strictly by hand.
Due to the artisanal nature of our processing, each piece may have slight differences in color, which is a sign of craftsmanship and detail of uniqueness.

The colors could also undergo slight variations in tone due to the different essences used in the construction of the furniture.

It is possible to create customized sample finishes. It is possible to request profiles (in gold, silver or contrasting color) both on the lacquers and on the polishes.

French finishing

CATEGORY C

Characteristic of the tempera lacquer, the so-called “French” lacquer, is the opacity. The French lacquer is patinated and peeled, especially on prominent surfaces and on shapes and carvings, which is where the lacquer coincidentally performs the best.
If the client wishes to maintain a matte and “watery” finish but does not want any antiquing, please indicate it when ordering.

Shellac finishing antiqued

CATEGORY C

Characteristic of the Shellac Lacquer is the brilliance which, as a standard, is 60 gloss. A yellowish brown bituminous film is spread over the color, which avoids the color being too homogeneous accentuating its chiaroscuro, underlining and giving prominence to carvings and shapes. In this case, the film is used in an antiquarian way and is not cleaned from the excess of spreading, slightly dirtying the surfaces.
The stripping carried out on prominent surfaces and on shapes and carvings allows the color of the wood to emerge.

Shellac finishing not antiqued

CATEGORY C

Characteristic of the Shellac Lacquer is the brilliance which, as a standard, is 60 gloss. A yellowish brown bituminous film is spread over the color, which makes the color not perfectly homogeneous and gives chiaroscuro, underlining and highlighting carvings and shapes.
This finishing version is not stripped and therefore the color is more homogeneous and “flat”.

Full gloss

Glossy lacquer with 100 gloss brilliance. Thanks to the application of numerous layers of varnish and to the manual polishing process, it gives the surfaces a smoothness and a brilliance comparable to traditional Chinese lacquer. No film is used, nor is there any antiquing or peeling. For this reason it performs best on smooth surfaces.

Cherry wood wax polish

CATEGORY W

Characteristic of the T polishing is the fullness and brilliance of color created on the cherry essence. The numerous coats of base varnish, which serve to give a full and brilliant effect, help closing the pores of the essence. It does not contemplate peeling or film and therefore the grain of the wood remains visible and natural.

Cherry wood K

CATEGORY W

Traditional French polishing with a pad finish made on cherry essence. The use of beeswax helps to give a sense of lived experience to the finish. The film penetrates the pores of the wood so as to bring out the veins and highlight the wood, accentuating the differences in the material itself. It does not include antiquing.

The so-called “liquid metal”, this varnish that contains metal particles is applied and then polished with special abrasives that enhance the real shiny metal effect. After that, a transparent layer is applied to fix and protect it against oxidation. It performs best on smooth surfaces.

Bronzo

Straw marquetry

Inlay made by laying natural straw canes, hand-dyed with alcohol-based dyes. Each tube is opened in two, one by one, flattened and laid following the desired geometrical design. The color takes root on the natural material in a unique way and, therefore, once the canes are spread, it creates a vibrant, translucent and unique chiaroscuro effect.
